Don’t we all
Fear what others think of us
That fragile first impression
That makes us or breaks us.

Will we be accepted,
Welcomed and respected?
Or will we be treated
With scorn and unfairness?

Don’t we fear
That what we say
May be misunderstood,
Misinterpreted by others?

What we wear,
What we do,
Will they snigger
And judge us too?

In the world where people
Can wear masks to hide themselves,
What is real, and what is not?
Who will know for sure?

What if we are
Unknowingly living a life
Driven by superficial people around us,
Feeding us with lies?

Then I will choose
The path of ignorance
For the world is only beautiful
When ignorance is bliss.
