noragami s2 ep 1-4

A far cry indicates the victory
Of a nearby kingdom,
Successfully completing the uphill task
Of defeating the fearsome enemy.

Our army stands together
The date of the attack
Dangerously near,
As we recall our planned strategy
In order to win against
The enemy’s mastermind
Who started plotting this war
Since years ago.

The enemy is strong,
That we know,
But we have our strengths too.
With bright ideas as our swords,
Quotes as our shields,
Intricately crafted analysis
Firing arrow after arrow,
Who said we weren’t good enough?

Search for the enemy’s flaws,
Shed the feeling of alienation.
Unravel the web
Of Iago’s manipulations,
Slice the flimsy excuses
Of Elesin’s hubris,
Proudly uphold duty and devotion.

Shouting our battle cry,
We march onwards
Breaking into a charge,
With the well wishes of
Our families and mentors
Etched in our minds.

March on, dear comrades.
Ts’ai Yen used her songs
Fa Mu Lan her sword,
And Kingston, her novel.
With our writing, we too
Can grant ourselves the power
Of crafting a legacy in our hands.

I planned to write this poem yesterday to keep up with the challenge, but I just couldn’t come up with the proper words. Sorry for the delay! To be honest, I was wondering if I should just delay this challenge again and post this poem on its own, since I cannot find a befitting image. This poem has many references to the literature texts I am studying: The Woman Warrior by Maxine Hong Kingston, Death and the King’s Horseman by Wole Soyinka, and Othello by William Shakespeare. As you can guess, my very last battle, as hinted by my previous poems, is my literature A Level exam. In case you guys have had enough with the recent battle imagery, this should be the last one haha.

My nominee for today is Allison Nicole. Visit her blog at https://peoplethingsandlife.wordpress.com/
